ENVIRONMENTAL Stewardship |
-
At WineNik, not only do we believe in offering quality, travel friendly wines, but we are dedicated to working toward a more sustainable
model and world. Our healthiness as a company is directly dependent on the health of the world around us. We are
founded under the principle of equally enjoying today while looking toward tomorrow, so we planned out our
R.O.R strategy.
(While some of us do in fact have questionable backgrounds, R.O.R does not refer to any face time with a judge.) We are, however, committed to the following:
- Reducing – our reliance on traditional energy sources
- Off-Setting – what we can not reduce
- Reusing/Recycling – what we can everyday
We openly recognize that this is not perfect but simply a starting point for WineNik as a company.
It is a roadmap for us to follow, learn and incrementally improve ourselves year over year. If you
have any suggestions to enhance our efforts, please send them to us at ror@winenikrevolution.com.
Furthermore, by working with our suppliers and other third party organizations focused on environmental protection and improvement to
mitigate our own carbon emissions, we strive to get WineNik to 0% net emissions as a business and for all associated events.

Reducing |
-
The packaging we use contributes to a significant reduction in the use of fossil fuels and harmful emissions because
it's lighter to transport. In fact, we have reduced our trucking needs by 40%
because of the high product to package ratio. In other words, we can cram a
whole lot more wine on the truck.
We sincerely hope that the environmental advantages might continually gain importance. The potential to make an
environmental difference is there, according to a Life Cycle Inventory by Franklin Associates of Prairie Village in
Kansas. The study estimated that if 80% of the table wine sold in the North American wine market were sold in aseptic containers, the
greenhouse gas reduction would be equivalent to removing almost 400,000
automobiles off American roads.

Off-Setting |
-
As we have already mentioned, WineNik has partnered with CarbonFund.org to off-set our emissions.

Reusing/Recycling |
-
- We will reuse paper, boxes and envelopes whenever possible. Don't be surprised to see your items packaged in reused boxes or envelopes...remember reusing is even better than recycling!
- We use boxes which are post consumer recycled and rarely add packaging materials. But, when we do, we reuse paper & other items we already have.
- All office related printing is on recycled paper and duplexed.
- We recycle anything and everything we can.
- The paks themselves are recyclable and increasingly recycled. The technology to recycle aseptic cartons is through a process called hydrapulping. Please see www.tetrapakusa.com for more information, including how to find out if your community has an aseptic recycling program.
